I worked with Saida at LCF on the international touring exhibition WHY WHAT WHO, she was a fantastic project leader, diplomat, negotiator and creative problem solver. She is not phased by change and able to forge ties with international partners with ease, above all she was personable fantastic colleague who's positive approach to life was a joy to be around.

I had the pleasure of working with Saida on the International Fashion Showcase which was a partnership between British Council, British Fashion Council, London College of Fashion, UAL and Somerset House. Saida expanded the ambition of the project enormously, integrating it across the college with input from academics, industry mentors and research centres. She is an adept project manager with an ability to integrate a complex international project across many areas of an organisation and a diplomatic partnership manager who understands the needs of the partnering organisations she is working alongside and represents her own organisation's priorities clearly and strategically. Through Saida's careful guidance we were able to integrate a 9 month business development programme for 16 international designers into the project - I consider it a real innovation to deliver this kind of programme and mentorship online and offline and it contributed to a much more impactful project which has proven to be extremely valuable to the designers supported by it in terms of developing their businesses and as the industry leaders of the future. It would not have been possible without Saida's vision, commitment and abilities - she is as organised and thorough as she is empathic and adaptable.

A collaborative project with The British Council. Myself and 3 students from MA Fashion and the Environment (now MA Fashion Futures) at London College of Fashion, UAL were sponsored to spend a month in Sri Lanka, hosted by the University of Moratuwa in Colombo. We were there to conduct research on the Sri Lankan garment industry, focusing on the sustainability of their strategies and policies. Sri Lanka produces apparel for numerous well-known intentional high street retailers, we were luckily enough to visit and inspect their main manufactures in the country and undertake a week’s work placement. I was positioned in Sri Lanka’s largest manufacturing company, Brandix. Here I worked with the head designer of their Marks and Spencer’s department. I was given design projects, where I was able to visit all aspects of the design and manufacturing process, from the design room to the sample room, from the garment construction to the finishing plants. This was an amazing opportunity, broadening my knowledge on garment manufacturing. Show less
