Behavioral Health Care Manager
-
Dec 2021 - Present
Under the employment of Hillsboro Area Hospital as a Behavioral Health Care Manager, I have had the opportunity to build and maintain connections with Primary Care Providers out of multiple HSHS and Springfield Clinic locations through a collaborative care model employed to manage the behavioral healthcare of select patients. While patients are under my care, I am responsible for ongoing psychological test and measurement administration as appropriate, the facilitation of psychotropic medication management in collaboration with a psychiatric consultant and the primary care physician, and the appropriate referral to additional community resources when necessary. When working directly with the patient, I act as a partner in developing realistic treatment goals and ongoing and flexible treatment planning, as well as provide brief therapeutic intervention, motivational interviewing, and behavioral activation. I thoroughly document each interaction with the patient, the psychiatric consultant, and the PCP in order to maintain accurate record of patient care, as well as track patient progress over time numerically and anecdotally based upon assessment scoring and patient statement. In this role, I am also responsible for various other duties such as the facilitation of the Blues Program, an 8 week course that teaches basic Cognitive Behavioral Therapy skills and stress tolerance skills, at the local high school. I write a weekly article discussing relevant topics in mental health which is sent out to all hospital employees, as well as present information related to stress management, adaptability, and effective communication to the Leadership and Development Committee. I recently completed and am in the implementation stage of a Lean project, a project designed to recognize and reduce waste and dysfunction within processes. I am currently in training to become a certified Lean instructor so that I can teach Lean courses at Hillsboro Area Hospital. Show less

Contact Tracer
-
Nov 2020 - Dec 2021
Working for the Madison County Health Department as a Contact Tracer during the COVID-19 Pandemic included a variety of responsibilities. First and foremost, I was responsible for the appropriate handling of and the protection of a vast amount of private health information including but not limited to vaccination records, personally identifiable information, and infectious disease status. This information was primarily received through the designation of newly diagnosed COVID-19 cases and identified contacts to Contact Tracers through the SalesForce System and the I-CARES system. I would follow set protocols related to the contacting of designated COVID-19 cases, and document the reflected contact attempts and gathered information into the SalesForce and Illinois Department of Public Health's database. Oftentimes, this role required high distress tolerance due to the hesitant, anxious, and/or aggressive nature of certain clients, as well as motivational interviewing skills in order to encourage individuals to provide the necessary information to maintain community health and safety. I played a large role in the scheduling and functionality of mass vaccination clinics, and offered support, education, and guidance related to the COVID-19 vaccines. Over time, I took on additional responsibilities, serving as a stand-in secretary, answering calls related to health protection, environmental safety, resource allocation, STI testing, health inspections, code violations, and various other questions posed by Madison County residents.
