      I attended an 8-hour SUSTAIN (Stand Up to Sex Trafficking: Awareness, Implementation and Networking) training, which provided education on how to recognize sex trafficking within the health care system and how to provide resources and aid to patients who are going through sex trafficking. I volunteered monthly with the women of Dove Recovery House for addictions by participating in arts and crafts activities to help the women practice self-care, coping, and the development of sober passions while gaining insight into the health care needs of this population of future patients.       I hosted Camp Neuro at Marian College of Osteopathic Medicine; Camp Neuro is a week-long camp for high-school aged students to come to medical school to learn all about the brain. I created and executed a week-long itinerary to educate 21 high school students about the medical field and neuroscience. The itinerary included a brain dissection, a lesson on suturing, lectures on bran anatomy and physiology, clinician lectures on various medical topics (i.e. neurology, psychiatry, neurosurgery, neuroimaging), a lecture on different careers in health care, etc. I educated and assisted the high school students in performing scientific research projects on neuroscience topics that interest each student, allowing each high school student to pursue his or her own passion within the field.
