My new appointment with Umwelt is to offer additional strength to the technical leadership for water resource engineering related services. As a Principal Water Engineer with over 23 years’ experience particularly in the execution and direction of complex water management projects as well as the planning and design of civil infrastructure, I bring extensive water engineering technical leadership to my new role. Additional strengths in the flood assessment and management space, water balance and water management, as well as a strong track record in consultancy, team management and business development will be further developed in my role with Umwelt Environmental & Social Consultants.

I am a civil / water engineer with 22 yeas of professional experience. My career has taken me from private industry to local government. I believe in working with people and having clarity of purpose. I have energy and intrinsic motivation in the challenges I take on and have successfully grown teams and built business. My technical expertise is in water management (CEng, RPEQ) and erosion & sediment control (A/ CPESC) and have remained a a hands-on leader that enjoys technical challenges. After enjoying 11 years with URS, I have taken a leadership position with Brisbane City Council as team leader in their Flood Policy & Planning team. I now lead a team of 13 talented professionals that deliver BCC's flood management agenda. My time at URS enabled me to develop as a leader and business builder. In the role of manager for the Hunter Region I enjoyed growing and reshaping the business into a profitable and vibrant venture. I enjoyed building the team and creating the right culture for success. Now at BCC I am in charge of setting policy direction (the why we do things) whilst remaining focused on delivering a challenging portfolio of works. I use my technical and leadership skills to chart the new water agenda for Brisbane, one that recognises water as a resource, acknowledges climate variability and aims to embed Resilience (in the environment, community and built form) as the key vehicle to achieve a better Brisbane.
