The NCPC-SA falls under the auspices of the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) and is hosted on its behalf by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). The NCPC-SA promotes the implementation of Resource Efficient and Cleaner Production (RECP) methodologies to assist industry to lower costs through reduced energy, water and materials usage, and waste management. The NCPC-SA is a member of UNIDO and UNEP’s global resource efficiency and cleaner production network (RECPnet) and plays a leading role in the African Roundtable on Sustainable Production and Consumption (ARSCP), with the NCPC-SA currently the President of the African body.I am currently employed as a Regional Project Manager at the National Cleaner Production Centre of South Africa. My duties and responsibilities include: Project managing the assessment and implementation of energy optimization projects at numerous companies in SA which consists of Steam, Fan, Compressor, Pump, Motor, Refrigeration and Chiller systems and assisting companies in the implementation of Energy Management systems based on the ISO50001 standard. I work closely with a strong client base of 50+ large companies, in which I project managed the implementation of projects which have saved my companies approx. R810million in avoided energy costs. I work closely with numerous government departments which include the Department of Environmental affairs, the Department of Energy and the Department of Trade and Industry and have contributed to the development of numerous guidelines and policies.
