USAID`s Nobo Jatra-New Beginning in Bengali, a Food for Peace (FFP) Program designed to improve gender equitable food security, nutrition and resilience of vulnerable people in the southwest region of Bangladesh. The program was implemented through an integrated approach building synergies across program elements: Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition (MCHN); Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH); Market-Based Agriculture Production with Natural Resource Management and Income Generation, value chain development and private sector engagement; Gender equity and Youth Development; Community based Disaster Preparedness, and Social Accountability of service provision by the local government bodies. The project was implemented by a consortia in coordination with the multiple ministries of the government of Bangladesh. Key Achievements: Demonstrated strategic and leadership roles to implement the project successfully; Ran $74 Million project for 5 years; Responsible for DIP, finance, HR, SCM, reporting, audit, etc.; Managed a consortium of 6 partners (3 national and 3 international) with a team of 650 staff members and 1850 paid volunteers and worked with multiple stakeholders (government, local government, media, civil society, etc.); Resolved the challenges (partners on board, delay implementation, burn rate, well-being analysis, online database, delay in cash transfer to beneficiaries, etc.); Successful Mid-term evaluation in 2018 held; US Senators, USAID Delegates and the Government representatives impressed to see the skilled team, commitment and the changes made in the project; No single audit question in 2017 by the international audit as we ensured the compliance of USAID; Impacted the lives of 1.2 million people in social, economic, nutrition, accountability and resilience facets. Subsequently held roles as Sector Specialist, Technical Officer, Monitoring Analyst, Senior Trainer, Manager MIS, Project Management and Country Coordination; Opened the BRAC Mission in Pakistan in 2006; Implemented Community Development projects in Afghanistan from 2003 to 2006; Wrote several project proposals and some reviewed from 1995-2006; Developed the MIS for Health, Nutrition and Population services to support managers in decision-making- it was a groundbreaking development to use the state-of-the-art technology and transforming data into information for decision-making and accurate reporting; Conducted KAP Survey using a 30-cluster methods to find the results of the interventions; Train over 1,000 international interns on community development approach of BRAC; Contributed to prepare a research compendium related to health and associated fields; Contributed BRAC Afghanistan to obtain the CGAP (Consultative Group to Assist the Poor) Financial Transparency Award 2005; Contributed BRAC Afghanistan to obtain 160 HP Tabs from World Economic Forum 2005 for micro-credit beneficiaries for computing data; Contributed in the consortia between BRAC and Pathfinder International for implementing Essential Package of Health and Family Planning Services under Rural Service Delivery Program funded by USAID. The project was implemented by 19 National NGOs in the country; Co-researcher of “An Assessment of Adolescent Family Life Education Program”- a mid-term evaluation to see the feasibility, process of the program and strategic improvement- the Adolescent Family Life Education program (sexual and reproductive health) ran in 350 Adolescent girls’ schools by BRAC in the RSDP program areas- funded by USAID.
