Internship

Industrial training in Centre for Chemical Biology (CCB) has given me excellent experiences. I was assigned a mini project entitled structural and functional study of Toxin and Antitoxin protein from Salmonella sp. The project given to me allowed me to enhance my research skills in many aspects and now I am confident in doing molecular and basic structural biology works without any supervision. I learnt to do molecular cloning various vector and genes. This enables me to identify suitable vectors for selected genes and taught me how to choose restriction enzymes based on vector sequences. Although my attempts were failed during molecular cloning, finally after several modifications of primers, ligation method, vectors, and restriction enzymes I was able to obtain positive results. Furthermore, gel filtration using AKTA Explorer made me confident in using high-tech and expensive equipment. It was a great experience for me to use this equipment where I learnt to operate it on my own. Protein expression allowed me to come up with solutions whenever failed to express protein.
