Joined in 2003 and was Head of PR in 2006, through good work not killing staff off. I loved this agency, a fun and vibrant place to work where I really pushed myself to deliver ideas, content and great media coverage for clients as well as driving new business across the agency. I only left after having my little daughter and to work for myself to get a work/life balance. Key skills: maintaining quality coverage; communications advice; hands on event management and press launches; ideas generation; marketing, design and social media strategies. Clients included key retail national motor accounts; regional house builders; The Co-op, key regional government backed organisations; luxury hotels and England Netball. I implemented a Payment by Results scheme which really helped clients understand in a tangible way, what the PR campaigns could achieve. Talk to me about this if you feel it would help. Show less

Setting myself up in business I networked and called my roller-deck (yes I did use one) of client contacts and began work as a freelance PR professional for a cross section of clients. During this time I advised and implemented PR strategies for NHS Direct, Quantro Restaurant, MIRA, News Archives USA & UK, Frankie & Benny’s, Lister Healthcare, Leeds College of Technology, VET MRI and Music Zone. While longer in the tooth than many PR graduates (now 30) I was selected from a live pitch to work as PR account manager for Sinclair Mason. I worked on b2b, b2c and trade accounts and new business. Clients here were very diverse and I leant to turn my hand to many industries, including: Leeds General Hospital, BT, Gas Flair, International Finance & Enterprise Week, homeshopping.co.uk and the teenage sensation which I brought into the business, called Dubit.co.uk. I managed three executives, including training. I learned a great deal here about agency life and left to give it a go on my own. Show less

I worked in the food press office for this iconic brand, which was then the much-loved M&S. A fascinating time to work there at the start of its fall from grace and internal board disputes. My role was to manage internal & external events as well as national PR coverage. I personally generated over £2m of coverage for The Christmas & Summer Road Shows, and Rosemary Connelly’s Healthy Eating. I was also involved with crisis management during food scares and customer complaints. I worked in the food press office for this iconic brand, which was then the much-loved M&S. My next step was in the prestigious, world-renowned department store, Harrods. Here I was responsible for the buying of various designers including Oui Set and Betty Barclay and a 'hot pop up' shop. I ran a department that turned over £1m a season. My role also included staff training, recruitment, motivation, selling skills, stock taking, merchandising. Plus guiding customers out of the store during some of the awful bomb explosions we had, luckily no one hurt while I was there. My love of all things fashion guided me to my first role after school with London's most up-and-coming designer, Karen Millen. I managed the high turnover, King’s Road branch and was responsible for budgets, staff motivation and training, merchandising, stock takes and banking. I also worked as manager at the South Kensington flagship store and Kingston.
