This program pairs advanced Arabic students with underserved Arabic-speaking refugee and immigrant families in New Britain, Connecticut. Over the course of two months, I taught a beginner ESL course; conducted research on cultural competency in service provision for recently arrived Arabic-speaking refugees and immigrants; and facilitated a mental health lecture/workshop for the community.
