Adviser for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) implemented Pacific Risk Resilience programme (PRRP). The programme is focused on strengthening governance mechanisms for Disaster Risk Management (DRM) and Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) at the national, provincial and community levels in Fiji,Vanuatu, Tonga and Solomon Islands. Also currently working with the UNDP Bureau for Policy and Programme Support (BPPS) to develop a DRR and CCA mainstreaming tool for government practitioners to support resilient development.

Sarah worked with the Ministry of Development Planning and Aid Coordination to help mainstream disaster, climate change and environmental risk into development planning in the Solomon Islands. Following the April 2014 flash floods, she helped the Ministry coordinate recovery and prepare a Recovery and Reconstruction Action Plan.

The current focus of Sarah's freelance work is mainstreaming climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction with traditional development to build resilience at the national and local levels. She has also carried out a number of environmental and climate change assessments at the project/intervention level and has helped prepare training on the economic of adaptation. Sarah currently provides consultancy advice for inter alia: Practical Action Consulting; the Department for International Development (DFID); the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP); the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Task Force on Climate change; the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Climate Centre (IFRC); the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs; the UN International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (UNISDR); and the World Bank (WB).

Sarah helped establish ERM's Social Strategies team and worked with a range of organisations (government, NGO, multilateral and corporate on social/development issues including Corporate Social Responsibility thus extending the traditional ERM focus on environmental issues. Prior to this, she worked in the Environmental Policy and Sustainable Development team on a range of key policy issues including climate change, renewable energy, recycling, green procurement and environmental reporting.
