Bio
Madelaine Khan
Sarah and I worked together on a curriculum project at Georgian College. The project aimed to assess current curriculum and replace outdated and problematic curriculum with new resources. I entered in the creating new resources phase and worked directly with Sarah to create new materials. Sarah taught me to look at how students may interpret curricular materials in a variety of ways and helped me construct resources aimed at not reinforcing stereotypes. Moreover, Sarah encouraged sitting with emotions when something didn't quite feel right with a new piece of material, even though we did not have an answer as to why, immediately. This really changed the quality of the work we were able to produce for the students. In sum, Sarah is able to critique resources from a variety of lenses, mentor faculty on creating new materials, and make recommendations going forward to improve existing workflow processes. I have taken the lessons Sarah has taught me throughout my career and I highly recommend her for any EDI&B related work.
