  During my year in management at this small town ice cream shop, I embraced the opportunity to learn how to manage a business. My duties included recruitment, team development, scheduling, inventory/orders, day-to-day operations, customer service, and food handling, preparation, and serving. Beyond this, I took it upon myself to find ways to innovate the way our small store did business. I was able to make improvements by implementing changes so that our procedures were more efficient. Updated policies and rules were put into place that saved the store money, as well as provided a more enjoyable work environment. As the year progressed, I turned customers into regulars and those regulars into friends. I increased my networks, and provided myself and the business with connections to our community and more opportunities to increase sales and community standing. Show less
