Currently completing my clinical social work internship at DAP in their Intervention and Prevention Program (Men's program). DAP's mission is to build communities free from violence by providing holistic healing for every member of the family. Currently, as an intern, I am co-facilitating two group therapy sessions for individuals who used abusive behavior. Experiences include psychotherapy, system coordination, individual services, referral, and diagnostic assessments. This program is designed to fully prepare me for an entry level career in this field. Completed the 150 hour Child Life Practicum experience in the pediatric unit of the Nebraska Medical Center. Practicum experience includes receiving one-on-one training from the Certified Child Life Specialists in the general Pediatric unit and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Observed and sat in on numerous procedures and patient interventions including learning about unique distraction techniques and calming exercises. Other experiences included adult patients with children consultations and learned bereavement and grieving techniques for varying ages of children.
