Responsible for strategic and operational management of Locomotion, part of the National Railway Museum and member of the Science Museum Group. Located in Shildon, the world's first railway town, Locomotion tells the global story of the railways. Responsible for developing strategies for engaging staff & students, schools, other formal learning groups and informal learners (such as families, local community groups, student societies etc) and the general public with the collections through temporary exhibitions, a well-developed learning offer and wide-ranging engagement programme. Providing leadership on all aspects of visitor experience at Palace Green Library, the Oriental Museum and Durham World Heritage Site Visitor Centre, including day to day responsibility for the front of house operation and the volunteering programme. Developing, designing and teaching workshops, seminars and other learning activities for undergraduate a& postgraduate students, primary and secondary school students, families and other formal and informal learning groups. Having responsibility for organising events and other activities such as temporary exhibitions, conferences, lectures, seminars etc that encourage and extend engagement with the collections. Founding member of Learning Arc, a regional network of archive education providers who work together to develop best practice and undertake joint initiatives and member of the Co Durham Local Cultural Education Partnership.
