Student Coordinator
-
Mar 2022 - May 2022
As one of the Student Coordinators for Canada's First Selective Mutism Conference I was responsible for reaching out to both possible presenters and attendees to inform them of the conference and guide them through the process of presenting or attending. Since there was only two of us working as Student Coordinators, we were able to contribute to all parts of putting together the conference. This also included obtaining funding from sponsors and running a social media page. Through our efforts we were able to find amazing presenters and panelists. I was not aware of Selective Mutism (SM) before working with the conference but this experience allowed me to see all sides of SM. I have been able to coordinate with parents, educators, treatment professionals, and with individuals who have overcome Selective Mutism. Due to COVID-19, I have not been able to attend any in-person conferences for Psychology so it was an impactful experience to be able to assist in organizing one.
