  What started off as a freelance writing position (2008-2009) for a family fun e-newsletter evolved into an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic team as this startup expanded into several new markets. I assigned and edited all content for five major metropolitan areas, editing for SEO as well as writing stories and brainstorming with the CEO on topics to cover.   After starting as the editorial assistant in 2000, I displayed my competence with administrative duties and a talent for editorial work, and was promoted to associate editor. I became the managing editor and travel editor in 2005, overseeing the monthly production cycle, facilitating frequent meetings between the editorial and art departments, and acting as a liaison with our production house in Chicago. In addition to editing—and sometimes writing—monthly columns (Weekender, Then Again, Doing Time With), I edited and wrote copy for features like our twice-annual travel packages.
