Elizabeth Snow

I worked with Sarah over the course of several years at iDE. We collaborated most frequently on integrating gender in project planning and proposals. Sarah has been instrumental in helping formalize iDE's gender programming and share best practices across the iDE network. Sarah has also ensured the gender perspective was addressed iDE's vision for 20 Million More and in key staff training documents, including a Country Director Manual. Additionally, Sarah has provided excellent support to both program managers and to country-based teams on gender. She was a pleasure to work with!

I worked with Sarah whilst CEO at iDE UK. She did a terrific job in developing the capacity of iDE across the world in gender analysis and gender sensitive programming, which had a direct impact on improving iDE's work with smallholder farmers. She was also a pleasure to work with as a colleague.

Odanadi UK provides capacity building and fundraising support to Odanadi, a community-based organisation in Mysore, India, which delivers a range of interventions to combat human trafficking. Having been awarded funding from the Vodafone World of Difference programme in March 2011, I continued to work part-time while I completed my masters. As the sole member of staff, I am responsible for developing funding proposals for a range of projects in the UK and India; contributing to project and strategy development; overseeing activities in the UK; managing donor and supporter relations; liaising with the UK board of trustees and staff in India; recruiting and supervising volunteers in the UK; managing all communications including website and social media; and I recently undertook a community based evaluation of Odanadi's vigilance committees in several villages in the Mysore area.

iDE promotes a market-based approach to development, creating income opportunities for poor rural households. By providing customers with low cost access to water for agricultural use and profitable links to markets, they can increase their incomes, creating economically stable communities and providing farmers with life-altering choices. As a part-time Programmes Intern, I spearheaded the development of a £200,000 ‘gender empowerment through agriculture’ project, including logframe, budget and work plan. Additionally, I produced presentations, edited reports for donors, drafted concept notes, and carried out in-depth research and analysis into iDE UK's previous projects' engagement with and impact on women.
