Sarah came on board with the City of Bloomington Office of the Mayor's Office of Innovation when we were in full-swing for a city-wide pilot to explore alternatives to vacuum leaf collection. Sarah was instrumental in the steering team and its subcommittees gaining traction at this time as she took the minutes and documented assigned action items that the teams used to govern themselves. Sarah also reached out beyond the known local stakeholders to involve other state-wide entities as secondary and tertiary interested parties. The involvement of these "unusual suspects" added some much-needed longer-term perspective to the project. Sarah also maintained the closed Facebook group page for pilot members to keep them updated on opportunities like hands' on demos of mulching and composting that were designed to lower the intimidation barrier for trying something new with leaf management. Sarah is a self-starter. Because things move so quickly in the Office of Innovation, and because what we do is often being done without precedent, it is important that anyone working in the Office be able to move forward with the information they have and be willing to pivot as new information becomes available. Sarah was very comfortable in this environment and adapted well to the continually shifting conditions that the pilot project presented to us. In our time together, Sarah did not have the opportunity to lead a group, but had she been able to stay with me longer, that would have been my next step for her. I would not hesitate to work with Sarah again!
