Jan 2006 - Sep 2018
I have had over 20 years experience as a marketer working across the financial markets sector, arts, entertainment and education and wholesale. With a strong background in direct marketing and marketing campaign planning I have kept up with the changing digital environment by taking digital courses, regularly listening to ipod and watching youtube marketing channels and putting ideas into practice through businesses I have run and/or contracted to. I enjoy taking a strategic long-term view of marketing and working collaboratively to achieve results. My decisions and planning is based on evidence and data which I find leads to better overall solutions. I have been fortunate to be placed in many autonomy roles which has enabled me to plan, execute and report - honing my marketing skills as the marketing platforms develop. I am proficient at online, social media and print content writing and have worked alongside designers, senior managers, creatives to plan and execute marketing campaigns, develop websites, and build relationships for organisations. I offer a holistic view, looking objectively at markets to provide insights into a customer focused marketing approach, or simply to just get the job done within the timeframe - whatever is needed. Social marketing and technology evolutions means ongoing development and education. While I can't build you an autobot I can find you the right partner to do this, ensure your key messages and brand are communicated successfully through the right channels and manage the project to meet your business objectives and timelines. Marketing Manager

Nov 2003 - Aug 2017
I entered the creative and not-for-profit sectors through Capital E. I first worked with Capital E as full-time Marketing Manager in the early 2000s. During this time I strengthened a disjointed brand, introducing a customer focused communications, managing the introduction of a new website, and re-branding the BOUNCE festival to strengthen their position in the entertainment and creative market (still today it runs as Capital E National Arts Festival). In 2005 I left to have a family and have contracted to Capital E when needed. This has included copywriting for their festival, covering the position as Marketing Manager as required (most recently August 2017), a running parts of their campaigns. Show less

2010 - 2010
Sitting at the top of the Wellington Botanical Gardens sits a beautiful white dome and turn of the century brick building where no window is big enough to see what actually goes on inside. In 2010, this building had a queue of people lined up across its nearby hill, waiting to visit the new Aotearoa technological space experience at Carter Observatory. My job - to get those thousands of people there on that day. I was referred to Carter Observatory through my work at Capital E. Stage one was the development of a marketing strategy. From this piece of work I was asked to take on the marketing planning and execution to launch the new centre. As the sole marketing resource I worked with many great advertisers and suppliers to deliver an outstanding campaign which saw 150% of our target audience visit on opening day. For me, this was a part of history for the centre and unlikely to be seen again in my lifetime. I worked with multiple talented people on this project and feel privileged to have been part of the team to bring life back to this building in the early 2010s. After launch I covered in the role as Marketing Manager until a full-time person was recruited and was subsequently asked back to cover while this person was away. Today Carter Observatory operates under the Wellington Museum Trust as the Space Place at Carter Observatory. Show less

Marketing Manager
-
Sep 1997 - Sep 2001
After working in the wholesale lighting and retail publishing sector I took my communication skills to the finance industry through Medical Assurance Society. I moved through my marketing career here during the days of the introduction of websites, intense direct marketing and communication through traditional branch networks. The promotion to Marketing Manager in 1999 gave me the opportunity to manage a team and work at strategic level within management and the Board. To round-up my skills I completed courses in project management and people communication which have been invaluable for my long term career. Alongside writing the website proposal for tender, managing the introduction of their first website, brand development and a number of successful promotions, I introduced a new marketing communication model that increased product sales by 200%.
