During the summer, I have also taught at our hands-on STEM camps for elementary and middle school students. I have designed and implemented week long research academies for middle school students on topics ranging such as learning and memory, electrophysiology, genetic engineering, and human anatomy/physiology. Houston, Texas Area I collected electrophysiological data on how SAI nerve fibers respond to varying force. To do this, I dissected the skin from a rodent's hind paw while preserving the connecting nerve, called a skin-nerve preparation, and recorded the electrical signals within the nerve bundle as I touched the skin.
