As the public face of Cengage, a friendly and calm phone manner, problem solving skills under pressure and the ability to work closely with others in the team has been crucial. In this role I have built skills in managing multiple varied communications at once and prioritising effectively, coordinating communications between our Accounts, Supply Chain, Technology, Data Integrity, Publishing, GALE and Marketing teams, while also being the first line of communication for our courier Toll Logistics. This role requires an in-depth knowledge of BookMaster (AS400), competency with JIRA and Magellan and a very high level of attention to detail.

As Managing Editor for Antithesis, I was responsible for heading a team of editors, illustrators and designers to create our 2018 journal Revive. In this role I created a production schedule to work around the university semester timeline, wrote the journal’s style guide and built a collaborative and friendly environment for a team of volunteers. Managing the editorial side of the journal in particular provided an opportunity to introduce new content ideas, creating a publication that brought peer-reviewed academic work together with creative work around a central theme.

In a sales and publicity role I worked one day a week at MUP organising mailing lists, creating mail chimp e-newsletters, updating the MUP website and mailing out review copies. This position required me to appraise and organise unsolicited manuscripts, write press releases, itineraries and marketing plans for upcoming books and regularly use programs such as Word, Excel, InDesign and Photoshop. I updated Goodreads book information, helped collate marketing information for meetings and mailed out review copies. All of these tasks had to be completed to strict deadlines with MUP’s fast turn around of book production.
