ELN Project Intern
-
Sep 2018 - Jan 2020
Following my summer internship at BioReliance I was invited to join the Digitalisation and Automation team and work on the Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) project. I balanced this part-time role with my academic studies during term time and worked full-time during the summer. I engaged with scientists and managers in various departments and quality assurance to design assay templates for LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System). This work required working to tight deadlines, communicating across multiple departments and sites, and meticulous attention to detail to ensure the SOPs are adhered to and that the procedure remains robust. I also contributed to the validation process by writing and executing test scripts to ensure that the ELNs met the high standards of data integrity required.

Student Food Technologist

Oct 2019 - Nov 2019
As part of my degree I undertook an industrial placement in the technical department of Braehead Foods. My main duties were to carry out daily GMP audits, scale and probe calibrations, traceability exercises, and hygiene audits. I also had the opportunity to participate in a Red Tractor audit and a Scottish Government Poultry Officer egg inspection. I found that my previous experience allowed me to quickly integrate into and contribute to the team. I developed my auditing skills and gained experience working to BRCGs, SALSA, and British Game Alliance standards.
