After my 1L year, I interned at Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington's Hogar Immigrant Services. While I was there, I had two main responsibilities. First, I worked directly with clients, drafting cover letters and assembling a variety of immigration applications including those for naturalization, adjustment of status, and DACA renewal. Second, I researched and wrote memoranda for the attorneys on legal questions related to their current clients and their immigration concerns. As a part of my Master's program I am working at Epiphany during the year (while studying at Notre Dame in the summers and taking online classes throughout the year) mostly in the Faith Formation Department. I teach Faith Formation classes and co-lead the RCIA for Children (the program through which children between the ages of 7-18 enter the Catholic Church), assist with sacrament prep, lead Bible studies, plan retreats and create design materials for the parish. Directed a community based learning course of 12 students focused on the research and discussion of life issues in advocacy, religion, government and education. Led the class on an immersion trip to DC to explore these issues which included corresponding with 10 organizations and coordinating office visits along with orchestrating logistics involved in traveling to and living in Washington, DC for a week. Engaged the students throughout the course and the immersion to think systemically about life issues and the purposes and impact of the organizations we visited along with helping them realize their personal impact potential.
