Having known Sarah for a number of years, I approached her when a vacancy arose in my parliamentary office. Sarah took on the role of caseworker and quickly established herself as an integral part of my team. The fact we went into lockdown very early in Sarah’s time working for me, and that she spent almost the entirety of that period working remotely from the other team members, did not in any way phase her. Sarah quickly demonstrated a strong aptitude for supporting constituents, identifying how to address an enquiry, and who to contact in order to try and resolve matters in the constituent’s favour. I was extremely impressed at how well Sarah adapted to the changing circumstances, and the heavy caseload which the office was dealing with. Beyond the casework handling, Sarah also updated my social media on a regular basis, and helped pull together a number of initiatives, including my efforts to donate Christmas dinners to disadvantaged citizens by utilising her contacts with Pinehurst Lodge Hotel. Sarah has a strong empathy, which enabled her to relate to constituents and invest herself in resolving their cases. She also showed creativity and initiative in how she supported the office’s communications work. These skills and attributes will be invaluable assets to anyone who employs her.

As well as the general day-to-day admin, I worked as part of a team of four assisting constituency MSP, working on many different cases, as well as updating and sharing informational posts for the constituency social media platforms. I started this position in February 2019. To start with I was taking booking for the London Taxi Card scheme designed for elderly and disabled people in the London areas to get taxis at a subsidised cost through the London Council. After proving myself as a confident, fast-learning and organised person they moved me on to a team that also dealt with general and major account bookings for some of the major companies in London.
