As a Resident Advisor, I helped create a friendly and open living environment for a group of 70 first- and second-year students living on campus. I worked with the other resident advisors in the building to plan events for the residents to attend, which were both community building and educational. I also helped facilitate a safe environment through policy enforcement through documentation, and respecting HIPAA guidelines. Through this, I have received formal diversity and inclusion training, as well as suicide prevention training.

Through this opportunity, I was able to expand my knowledge regarding the opiate epidemic surrounding my hometown community. Global Health Practicum Participant

Spent nearly 3 weeks in Nicaragua learning about Global Public Health approaches and services and their impact on rural and impoverished communities. I traveled to a rural community to further the water filtration program in the community and also help with an educational campaign regarding the Zika virus. I helped lead anemia testing during an all day health clinic.
