Software Implementation Consultant
-
Aug 2014 - Jan 2019
Purpose Software was a software company who specialised in the managed print services industry. We developed bespoke software to enable our customers to manage their businesses more efficiently and effectively. We configured our software to meet clients needs by working closely with their team during implementation. My main roles involved the implementation, configuration and training of 2serv and its integrated modules and applications. I conducted training on a variety of our software features and apps linked to stock control, billing and engineer and service management for our clients. We also delivered a range of reports using Crystal Reports and Microsoft Query which I created and configured depending on clients' needs.

Junior IT Consultant
-
Nov 2013 - Jun 2014
I moved on to this role after being offered a permanent position and promotion from Agilisys after completing my internship successfully. I specialised in HR and payroll services and was heavily involved in the People and Change sector of the company. This got me involved in many aspects such as change management, project management and HR services. The role expected a high standard of verbal and written communication and also presentations, both textual and verbal. It included a frequent in depth use of Business Objects and Microsoft Excel to aid in data cleansing and analysis as well to report on project progress to aid in managing the overall projects.

Graduate Intern

Aug 2013 - Nov 2013
I was primarily an IT consultant during my internship. I worked with HR and Payroll teams on an iTrent improvement project. My main roles were analysing data, running reports using Business Objects and data cleansing. I had to have a good knowledge of the way payroll works and also how HR and payroll work together. The role involved a lot of verbal and written communication and also presentations, both textual and verbal. It involved a frequent high standard use of Microsoft Excel and also improved my Project Management and time management skills.

Although I have chosen not to follow the career path of architecture, my degree has provided me with amazing experience of which I am grateful to have. Without the knowledge and experience I have picked up about presentations, communication and project management I wouldn't know where I wanted to be in life. Over my time at university I learnt how to get my voice heard, create actions from my opinions and show confidence in what I do. It has made me confident in being a team leader as well as working together in a team and allowed me to direct myself down the path I wanted to choose. The way I see it, a degree in design is about convincing people that your ideas are great and they should be implemented - what better way to use this experience than in consulting?

I originally took this job to pick up extra money during the holidays between my degree but left during my final year to allow more focus on university. The experience I gained from being involved in such a busy tight knit work environment was much greater than I could have hoped for. I not only learnt more about being in a working environment but improved my ability to work under pressure and built on my customer communication skills. My main roles included preparing basic food, taking orders, serving full table service to customers, assisting the floor manager in their duties, working behind a bar, handling money and cleaning duties.
