My role as an Archaeology and Heritage Consultant is varied. I am a specialist in historic buildings and assist clients in understanding the history and development of their listed buildings. I undertake recordings and surveys of Historic Buildings to Historic England (2016) Understanding Historic Buildings Levels I-IV. A large part of my work as an Archaeological and Heritage Consultant also involves undertaking archaeological assessments of areas of land that are proposed as developed sites. In order to ascertain the archaeological potential of a site, I research all forms of historic mapping, photographs, GIS data, and other documents. This might include historic tithe maps, RAF Aerial photographs, LiDAR, and data from the Historic Environment Record. This work is particularly useful for providing planning advice to clients prior to any planning applications. I also assist clients in archaeological evaluation and geophysical survey tendering that might be required, assisting them in finding the right archaeological contractor to fulfil any heritage planning conditions on their site. Much of my work also involves giving my professional advice to clients and working with a variety of stakeholders. I regularly advise Architects, Building Contractors and Structural Engineers to ensure the successful approval of planning applications from start to finish, and assist in the discharging any attached Heritage conditions. • Archaeologist & Ceramicist at Gurob Harem Palace Project
      • Sep 2011 - 2013

Aims of Project: -To excavate in selected areas of the town to find out more about Egyptian harems, palaces and domestic life, -To excavate selected parts of the cemetery in order to find out more about the burial customs and anthropology of the Ramessid population, -To produce a detailed modern corpus of pottery at the site. The vast majority of the ceramic material covering the surface of the site dates to the mid- to late New Kingdom, affording considerable potential to analyse chronological and functional patterns across the site through the study of such material, To produce an accurate 1:1000 map of the site as a whole, combining GIS so as to allow our growing databases of ceramics, small finds and lithics to be mapped onto the visible surface features, -To create more detailed plans of the main points of archaeological interest in the settlement and cemeteries, -To use satellite photographs, geophysical methods and core-drilling to gain a better understanding of the subsurface material and architectural remains, as well as the relationship between the site of Gurob and its landscape and environment.
