Departmental Tutor

In 2011 I was employed by the University of Pretoria as a departmental tutor for English undergraduates. This involved helping students in their first, second and third years studying English literature. I tutored individual students during consultation hours, helping them with all aspects of their course, including the subject matter, exam techniques and time management. I also helped them with their assignments, teaching the proper way to present an argument, as well as editing their essays for them. In addition, I presented tutorial lectures to the first year students on the subject matter, exam preparation, proper grammar and essay writing technique and proper use of the English language.

In 2010 following a recommendation I was employed by several students learning English as a foreign language to do conversation classes with them. This involved talking to the client in an informal way, helping them to become proficient in spoken English. I also compiled written exercises for my students to help them learn the correct ways to communicate in practical situations.
