As an aftercare staff member, I coordinate games and activities for a group of children from kindergarten to sixth grade. During the summer we typically have twenty-five to forty children under the care of a team of three staff members. During the school year, we provide care for an average of fifty students daily. We provide a rich environment driven by student-choice and exploration of the world around us through three to four field trips per week during the summer. I am a lead teacher in the preschool and kindergarten classroom. I am responsible for planning themed enrichment activities and managing our daily schedule. I am also the afternoon site supervisor of the whole program, overseeing two staff members and an average of twenty-five children from preschool to grade six. Other responsibilities have included bookkeeping, some aspects of billing, and implementing a classroom-wide behavior management system.
