Lentera Anak Pelangi (LAP) is a non-profit organization that supports children and young adults living with HIV in Indonesia since 2009. Most of the beneficiaries of Lentera Anak Pelangi are orphans, coming from Indonesia's most vulnerable and poor communities. The organization provides nutritional support, psychosocial support for children and caregivers, free medical consultations and medications, life skill education, capacity building, and advocacy. As an intern, my experience includes: - Researching adolescent programs and psychosocial & mental health support for teens - Adapting program modules for Indonesia based on the findings from best practices around the world - Developing psychosocial assessment as a standard measurement tool to identify the psychosocial needs of teens - Initiating the Teens Support Group for LAP to create a teen community that fosters positive living - Assisting in the development of data management and analytic tools based on the longitudinal data of the beneficiaries with the use of Google Data Studio - Co-writing two HIV papers for the national HIV conference for HIV research in Indonesia (Pertemuan Nasional Jaringan Penelitian HIV Indonesia): (1) The Impact of Limited Access to Healthcare and Anti-Retroviral Treatment (ART) due to the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Morbidity and Mortality of Children Living with HIV, and (2) The Importance of Psychosocial Support in Improving the ART Adherence in Adolescents Living with HIV. These papers were presented and will be published in the HIV journal of Indonesia (Bunga Rampai). Show less

    • Marine Ecology Independent Research
      • Aug 2021 - Present

I am enrolled in the 3 year Marine Ecology Research Program, a specialized research program at Santa Catalina School as an appointed Ocean Guardian school. The research program equips students with in-depth knowledge and hands-on experiences in research and scientific methodologies, which include designing and conducting an independent research project. My research focuses on how concentrations of hypersaline brine solution affect the metabolic rate of purple sea urchins. The high metabolic rate of sea urchins induces their behavior of actively grazing on kelp forests, endangering kelp forests and the marine ecosystem. I am conducting this research to show how desalination plants, meant to mitigate severe droughts, will impact the marine ecosystem. Show less
