  As a manufacturing supervisor at the Bechtel Innovation Design center, I am responsible for the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing lab. I assist in training students from Purdue University in learning the fundamnetals of manufacturing, specifically using the CAD and CAM systems of Fusion 360, and help them implement their design into reality. As a supervisor, I am additionally responsible for ensuring the TA's at the center are proficient in also giving this training, as well as the operations of the various manual and CNC mills and lathes at the center. I am available when they need assistance or run into an unknown error in the operation or setup of a machine, and oftentimes need to figure out quick solutions to new problems on the fly. When I am not managing the shop floor or working with a student, I perform both routine maintenance on the machinery and order any tools that are needed at the center. Oftentimes I will also implement improvements or adjustments to machines or workflow to make it easier for students to work and learn in the lab. Show less

  As a systems engineering intern at Northrop Grumman, I was placed in quality control, where I learned all about the stringent requirements that electronic and mechanical parts made for defense are held to. This internship allowed me to travel to various machine shops and plants in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Delaware to perform source inspections on products with the help of a full-time inspector. I learned a lot about how different machining operations are run and what is expected of them from their clients. Show less
