Maarten van Cleeff

As director of a USAID funded global project to support governments in Asia, Africa and Latin America with their fight to tackle Tuberculosis, I recruited Sara Massaut in 2004 as a Senior Project Officer in our Project Management Team at KNCV in The Hague. The project was in 2004 relatively small, it grew with its three successive projects to the worlds’ largest TB project. Without doubt, being part of the Project Management Team, Sara’s contributions in the team have been significant to facilitate the growth and successes of all the projects until present. Sara has shown to be a hard-working, reliable and pleasant colleague. She works systematically, is neat, quick, responsive, loyal and is able to communicate in a diplomatic - though in a personal fashion - with all international stakeholders over the world, whether they were from the donor community, partner organisations or people from receiving countries. Being a Sociologist, among so many medical colleagues, Sara was able to give extra attention to the social aspects and e.g. contributed to patients centered tools, to enable - the often poor- TB or TB/HIV patients to diagnosis and keep them on treatment care. Her project management and relationship management skills were very instrumental when she went overseas and worked for over a year as Country Director to get a difficult project back on track. I am now retired, but if you would be in a position to recruit her, I certainly recommend you to do so. Sara is a quick learner and will surely satisfy your expectations. Dr. Maarten van Cleeff, former director of TBCTA, TB CAP, TBCARE I and Challenge TB.
