I have managed Sara for over a year as a managing editor intern for bSMART - a mentorship and networking community for women leaders. In my 15 year career, I've never met a more dedicated intern. Her passion for the environment, talent for writing, and collaborative spirit, makes Sara a joy to work with and have on our team. Sara's bSMART responsibilities included writing weekly articles on topics that could educate our audience, editing and providing a final review for all submitted articles, loading those articles with images to our website for publication, and being a peer mentor within our community of 2,500 women. Sara's awareness, compassion, and talent for writing enabled her to share with our members the issues facing the environment and how everyday citizens can become better stewards of our world. In addition to editorial responsibilities, Sara was a peer-mentor and leader in our community hosting online conversations about activism, social responsibility, and environmental policy. Sara's guidance within our organization provided support, awareness, actionable initiatives for our members who are also aspiring women leaders. Sara set a standard of compassionate leadership that I believe is only the beginning of her long career of empowering women to take a stand for protecting the environment. What has stood out to me the most working with Sara over this past year is her tenacity, sense of personal responsibility, attention to detail, and unwavering commitment for how people can better take care of plants, animals, and each other. Even though Sara's internship has been remote, she is the most responsive and thorough intern I've had the pleasure of working with throughout my career. Sara's intellect is evident through her writing and communication skills and I'm so proud she's using her talents to create a legacy for environmental impact.
