I also gained first-hand experience with new treatments for autism, like “Facially-Expressive, Assistive Robots” (Robokind).   I have led an independent research study, constructed a question from community concerns, and created a collaborative partnership with the Honors College and the Rich Center of Autism. I earned a Citi Certification and approval from the YSU Institutional Review Board. Then, I distributed surveys to parents with children who have autism, asking about the efficiency of the at-home programs they are a part of.   I tutored students (both online and in-person) in writing, working with them to address difficulties in grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary, formatting, citations, and syntax. The writing assignments included anything from annotated bibliographies to research papers to PowerPoint presentations. I also assisted with Writing Center outreach activities, including presentations, class trips, and high schooler visits. Writing had been my forte all throughout high school; I was thrilled to be able to stretch my creative muscle while studying a major that doesn't require the most writing. Show less



Pakistan Cultural Garden

  I directed, produced, and edited a promo video for the Pakistani Cultural Gardens, a non-profit dedicated to the development of a Pakistani Garden within the Cleveland Cultural Gardens. I wrote and recorded the narration, retrieved and edited the clips, organized the music composition, and collaborated with the non-profit leaders. This experience was one of my favorites, as I was able to explore my interests outside of medicine. I have been editing (and starring in) my own videos since I was a kid. Getting to do it on a professional scale in a way that celebrated my culture was such a pleasure. I worked alongside my mom, paying homage to her country's history and discussing its future.   I supervised and planned outdoor activities for children aged 6-8 years old. I ensured their safety while organizing games and events to keep them active during the summer time. Some of the activities were religion-oriented, such as reading from Muslim storybooks and playing Islamic trivia, while others were more exercise-oriented, such as morning yoga and capture-the-flag. I planned to activate their creative sides by engaging them in a movie-making activity where they would direct and act in their own scenes.
