Matt S.
As editor-in-chief of a legal database, I can’t begin to count the number of writers I’ve hired over the past several years, or sadly, the number I’ve fired. In my line of work, you get a sense after a while of what great writing looks like, and it goes beyond good grammar. Some people can write in a way that’s almost musical. When you read it, everything seems to come together. Sara Kang is one of those people. She’s written hundreds of case summaries for my database over the past two years. For the uninitiated, a case summary is a synopsis of a legal opinion. It requires the writer to read the opinion and distill the key points of the case into a short summary. Case summaries are used by attorneys and law students to save them the time of reading the whole case. It’s not as easy as it may sound. It takes a keen mind to decide what to keep in and what to keep out. Of the approximately 50 legal writers I’ve supervised, Sara is one of the best. Despite having a full-time job, she managed to deliver 10 to 15 pages of content each week that required little or no editing. Her grammar, syntax, and word choice are excellent. She’s a quick study, an excellent legal writer, and a hard worker. I recommend her without qualification.
