Conducting two projects; one about the role of miRNA in bone cancer pain and one on the implication of miRNA in synaptic plasticity. It has been demonstrated in a cancer-pain model of mice that miR-124 is a miRNA with a key role in pain mechanisms since it regulates synaptic proteins involved in pain perception and showed that the expression of the same miRNA is altered in patients as well. This work strongly suggests the therapeutic potential of miR-124 in cancer pain. In the other project, miRNA miR-92a has been identified to regulate the expression of the glutamate receptor GluA1 and thus adjusting the synaptic strength in response to neuronal activity. Show less
