Sara was an eager learner and soaked up knowledge very quickly when I was her teacher. She currently attends the same church I attend. For the past three years she was the leader of our Outreach Committee at church. She visibly grew in her confidence as a leader and in her management skills. She learned how to work with adults much older than her when we discussed our budget and needs of other people both internationally, nationally and locally. I would highly recommend Sara for any job position she would want to undertake because she is honest and completely trust-worthy to get the job done.

I contribute to the upkeep and expansion of the taxonomic database at itis.gov by reviewing, editing, updating, and building files of taxonomic information. I am experienced in using library collections and online resources (eg the International Plant Names Index, the Biodiversity Heritage Library, JSTOR), as well as correspondence with taxonomic specialists, to make judgments as to the correct and current usage of a given name. As data manager for the Biological Diversity of the Guiana Shield Program at the Smithsonian Institution, I have gained familiarity with the operations of a herbarium, eg proper handling of specimens, specimen mounting techniques, label generation, and the Dalla Torre and Harms filing system. I used Microsoft Access, Excel, ArcGIS, WordPerfect, Photoshop, and Dreamweaver. In the summer of 2010 I was able to accompany a month-long botanical collecting expedition to Guyana, and camped in the rainforest near the border of Venezuela (Mt. Roraima was visible at some points).
