As a student in Dr. Timothy Phillips' laboratory and a trainee in the Superfund Research Program (SRP), my research focused on the mitigation of exposures to environmental chemicals. We developed novel, broad-acting sorbents for chemicals that humans and animals may be exposed to during an environmental disaster. More specifically, I worked on developing carbonaceous and clay-based sorbents that can be used to reduce the bioavailability of chemicals from soil and reduce translocation of chemicals to plants.
