As a part of my collections management class I had a practicum internship which I worked on a collection of documents from Robert Fowler, who was an early California aviator. He was the first person to fly from the West coast to the East coast in 1911, and the first to fly non-stop from the Pacific to the Atlantic oceans, accomplished by flying over the Panama Canal. This collection of documents has 16 boxes that were inventoried and a paper catalog was created. As an intern my responsibilities included, but not limited to: 1. Update the catalog into a searchable database using FileMakerPro. 2. Evaluate the collection for damage and create a plan for preservation of the materials. Show less
