  The National Allergy Research Centre at Gentofte University Hospital, the project focus on the immunology and prevalence of allergic contact dermatitis in hairdressers and hairdressing apprentices.We will in the first part look into allegen exposure and preventive work routines among the hairdressers. The second part will focus on changes in skin and immune components after allergen exposure both in allergic and tolerant individuals.A part of the project is a cooperation between the National Allergy Research Center in Copenhagen and the Swiss Institute of Asthma and Allergy Research in Davos, Switzerland. I will therefore work at SIAF from february 2016. The project is set to finish september 2018. Show less

  In allergy B-cells are normally considered due to their ability to produce IgE. However, B-cells may also be involved in immune regulation. Recently IL-10 producing regulatory B-cells (Bregs) has been associated with inhibited production of inflammatory cytokines, activation and proliferation of effector cells. Induction of IL-10 in inflamed tissue is associated with remission in autoimmune diseases and it is thought to play a similar positive role in allergy and asthma. In the present study we aimed to investigate IL-10 induction and production by B-cells as well as optimize a method for IL-10 detection. Show less
