Few people get the opportunity to work with a leader who is also a coach and mentor—but I did when I served in the team led by Sanjay Goel. I had the pleasure of working with Sanjay several times indirectly and more recently directly as part of his leadership team when he was heading the Global Services’ (GS) business of Nokia. Services is a tough but strategic part of any global business and Nokia is no exception. Under Sanjay’s leadership we navigated a range of challenges and unlocked tremendous opportunities. During my association with him I especially found two of his qualities as a leader that I would like to emulate half as good as him. He has a very candid, frank and constructive style of conversation with his teams and peers. He comes across as genuine, action oriented and results focussed. His clear unambiguous tone and messaging helps bring trust and credibility to the team. Secondly, he has an amazing ability to hold multiple points of views and decide on a course of action objectively. These two qualities are among many other strengths he brings to any leadership challenge and I am sure he will go on to do many amazing things in future.

Sanjay and I joined the APAC Managed Services group simultaneously and in the time I have reported to him he has been a truly dynamic, forward thinking and inspirational personality. He has boundless energy that is continually channelled in a positive direction. As a manager he helped me succeed and is always available as a mentor whilst being tremendously open to feedback.
