I have been associated with Thoppia for about 1.5 years now as Textile Designer. Thoppia.com is an Online cotton home furnishings store, where customers can buy readymade and custom made home furnishings. I have worked with Thoppia for their SS'19, AW'19 and SS'20 collection which involved designing a set of bedspreads, rugs, curtains, tote bags, etc. I have been associated with Thoppia for about 1.5 years now as Textile Designer. Izhai (pronounced ee- lhai) meaning thread or “nool” in Tamizh, a clothing brand that ties together indigenous artisans and contemporary fashionistas, was incepted with the primary intention of establishing an accessible platform for struggling local artisans and aided in bringing all their work under one roof. Like any other aspiring designer, owning a boutique was my biggest concern when I began. But as I moved forward, I figured it wouldn’t take shape without a signature style, given the widespread competition. Also, as a patron of traditional style and outlook, I wanted to create something that would bring different ends to meet, the primary idea behind Izhai. Designing clothes came to be one of the two major intents, the other being creation of a platform for local artisans. So I try my best to find a middle ground and create designs that fit traditional as well as contemporary norms. Show less
