  The Infection Prevention & Control Service (IPCS) ensures a safe environment for patients throughout PHSA and its agencies. IPCS collaborates with regional health authorities, the Provincial Infection Control Network of BC and Public Health to promote standardization of guidelines and surveillance scope. My role at IPCS involved health promotion and education related to infection control for patients, visitors, and staff. I coordinated routine audits across PHSA facilities, including BC Children’s and Women’s Hospital, Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, Forensic Psychiatric Hospital, BC Cancer Agency, and BC Centre for Disease Control. After analysis, I facilitated workshops and presented education sessions for both clinical staff and patients to teach the basics of infection control and to promote proper hand hygiene practices.
