The Shaw updates address previous system issues and government regulations changes, such as the Escrow ROITR calculation issue and some credit bureau reporting. This would also include updates to the Shaw Operations Workbench, which is an online, user-friendly version of the Shaw loan system. Collections is currently five upgrades behind (in system 4.9), which is the equivalent of 10 years. This upgrade will provide the business with significant application updates, as well as improved procedural changes. The Teradata resources are shared between the ETL users and reporting users. This project handles Verizon wireline (Copper and FIOS) services to customers. Most of the process follows the Extract-Transform-Load concept. Data extracted from the source system is dumped into a raw data table. This data is then manipulated and transformed based on the requirements and moved into appropriate database table. We receive 17 different files that have information like billing, customer account, payment, fees, adjustments, customer deposits, Payment Correction/Reversal etc. These files are split based on BLTs and then same BLT files are concatenated and transformations were applied before loading into 43 tables. Apart from loading tables, few interfaces were built which includes complex SQLs to meet the user’s requirement and the data was then extracted and sent to respective downstream. We were facing many data issues and the process was time consuming owing to huge volume of data. In order to fix the data discrepancy and deliver the data to the end-users on-time, we worked closely with the source systems, users and business intelligence to get a better understanding about the data and the business objectives. We modified the process to continue the splitting and concatenations of the files similar to existing process based on BLTs and then dump the data into 60 different raw data tables. Perform the transformation as per the requirement and the data was loaded into actual target tables. Then the interfaces were built and data was extracted and sent to the end-users which has reduced unnecessary processing time and resource consumption and we were able to deliver the data as per the requirements. This also includes migrating Copper customers to FIOS to reduce cost in fixing issues with copper wires. Show less
