I started my career working with Sandy as my UX team lead many years ago. The impact of her mentorship on my career and my life are unmatched. Her leadership is an absolute asset to every team she’s a part of. Sandy single handedly grew the L3Harris IT UX team from a 2 person ad-hoc team to a fully mature, highly sought after UX organization. She has experience in managing both enterprise UX efforts as well as program and customer facing application design projects. She led the department in incorporating UX into AGILE SCRUM and spearheaded the development of a Design System and UX Resource Portal. She is also experienced in UI design and is an expert at Usability Testing of all kinds. Sandy is truly a pioneer in the UX field and has helped myself and many of my colleagues to go on to be thought leaders in UX as well. Her management style is that of teamwork and collaboration. She cares as much for her team as she does for UX. Anyone who knows Sandy will tell you she has lived and breathed UX for over a decade and is one of the most innovative and user centered UX leaders out there. Nobody has more passion for their users and their teammates than she does. Any organization looking for a UX Specialist would be lucky to have Sandy. I miss working with her and we continue to keep in touch today.

In my early to mid career in UX, Sandy was my manager at Harris Corporation/ L3Harris Technologies for a total of 4.5 years. Sandy was always an inspirational figure at Harris/ L3harris being that she brought UX to the company and built it up to a six person UX team. Sandy is the definition of a people leader/ ux strategist who leads with empathy. Under Sandys leadership myself and my team were able to strategize and work on many enterprise wide apps/ initiatives that impacted the company on a grand scale such as Design Systems and Chatbot integration. Most of the skills and experiences in my UX career I owe to Sandy trusting me and guiding me along the way to find my unique voice and to be an advocate for myself and others. Sandy empowered me to think critically, be innovative and creative as well as encouraged my community involvement. Sandy challenged me to set goals for myself and to be accountable and is a trusted ear that would provide me the space to discuss my thoughts and feelings. These experiences have set the tone for what I look for in a manager as well as traits I work toward myself in becoming a people leader. If you are looking for a manager that not only fosters a collaborative environment but understands how to effectively strategize UX involvement in the big picture of your organization, then I highly recommend Sandy for any leadership level positions and stress that you would want her to lead your team!
