Sandra Aponte, MD, MBA, FCAP, FASCPAnatomic, Clinical Pathologist/CytopathologistDr. Aponte joined PLUS Diagnostics in February 2009. She was appointed to be the Urinalysis Section Director at Plus Dx. She completed her pathology training at Beth Israel and Mount Sinai in NYC and received her Master of Business Administration at the New York Institute of Technology. Dr. Aponte holds both anatomic, and clinical pathology boards with added expertise in cytopathology. She has served as Assistant Director at Shiel Medical Laboratories in Brooklyn, NY, as well as Chief of Cytopathology and Associated Director at Staten Island University Hospital in Staten Island, NY. Dr. Aponte completed a genitourinary mini-fellowship at John Hopkins Medical Center with Dr. Jonathan Epstein while working at Quest Diagnostics, where she was a Senior Pathologist for seven years. She has participated in several research studies, presented at national meetings and has published articles in multiple peer-reviewed journals. During her pathology residency, at Beth Israel Medical Center and Mount Sinai in NYC, Dr. Aponte was appointed Chief Resident. She received a Certificate of Merit from the World Who's Who of Women, twelfth edition1988 and the Janet M. Glasgow Achievement Award from the Medical Women’s Association. Indicted in 2012 LEADING PHYSICIANS OF THE WORLD.
