County Schools Librarian

Aug 2010 - Present
As County Schools Librarian, my duties include selection of children and young adult literature for grades K-8 for board recommendation through the San Diego County Office of Education Board of Education. Library Media Services provides related professional development and activities meant to serve the students and staff of San Diego County school libraries. I serve as the "Librarian of Record" to school districts which do not employ a full time, credentialed librarian. The Digital Content Portal (online library) is managed and distributed by Library Media Services. My role with the DCP includes selection of content, curriculum development (using Common Core State Standards and all subject areas), and training of teachers, students, and parents. The San Diego County Office of Education Library Media Services provides coursework (blended learning) for the Instructional Media Resource Assistant Certification created by myself, Leslie Hays, Karen Wagner, and Cindy Dunlevy. This course is designed to provide resources and education for noncertificated school library media center staff and is taught by myself in partnership with Leslie, Karen, and Cindy. I serve on the acquisitions committee for California Streaming (CCETC) and participate in selection, standards matching, and implementation of new instructional videos. Show less
