  I work with a District Literacy Team to implement assurances in Calcasieu Parish's Striving Readers Literacy (SRCL) grant in a cluster of schools that data showed has the highest numbers of striving readers according to the federal definition. The implementation is based on LACLiP - Louisiana's Comprehensive Literacy Plan with updates to include Louisiana's transition to the Common Core Curriculum and COMPASS, Louisiana's new teacher evaluation system.

  I was the lead writer on this $10,000,000 sub-grant from LDOE for Calcasieu Parish Schools. As a fellow in the National Reading Consortium, I had completed the graduate courses for my Reading Specialist Certification within the first year and a half of my educational career. They served as a great foundation for my succeeding years in the classroom, as an administrator in leading teachers and encouraging literacy instruction in all content areas, and in influencing new teachers.
