With a team of 40 student engineers from the Delft University of Technology, Delft Hyperloop took on the challenge of designing, building, and testing a racing prototype in merely one year time, to compete in the 2019 SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition in Los Angeles. My role in the team was two-fold. The Suspension department was responsible for predicting and controlling the dynamic behaviour of the vehicle. Within the department, I was mainly focused on the development of the vehicle’s wheels. Given the extreme running conditions in terms of RPM and dynamic loading, we managed to develop unique wheels that stood up to the challenge.Within the Testing department, I was the main responsible for the team’s testing facility that was used for all subsystem tests related to the drivetrain and the brakes. Being responsible for both the technical quality of the facility as well as for all testing operations in said facility, I acquired practical experience in a wide variety of fields. The ability to design reliable testing hardware, safe and unambiguous testing procedures, and logical testing programmes; these abilities lie at the core of what I learnt as a Testing Engineer over the past year. Master Department 'Apollo' organizes events with companies, such that our students can orient themselves for internships, as well as for thesis or job positions. These events include lunch lectures, in-house days and workshops.

The Space Department is mainly concerned with catching the interest of students for space-related topics. These topics can vary from pure, technological developments to impressions of interesting companies in the space sector. To do so, we have organized excursions to several companies, along with guest lectures from notorious figures from the space industry. The largest activity we organized was a 7-day trip to Germany and Czech Republic, to visit a total of five companies.

In the Activity Committee, we were mainly concerned with organizing numerous activities for the entertainment of our fellow students. The most significant event we organized, a party for 600 students, was sold out in just over an hour. As treasurer of the committee, I carried the financial responsibilities for all activities.
