  Youth Assisting Youth (YAY) is a non-profit community-based charitable organization that provides a peer mentoring service to improve life prospects for at-risk and Newcomer children aged 6 – 15 with trained and dedicated Youth Volunteers, aged 16 – 29. The children may be experiencing social, emotional, behavioral and/or cultural adjustment difficulties. The goal of the organization is to introduce a caring individual and a positive role model in the form of a peer mentor who can offer friendship and understanding through a one to one relationship with the child while participating in mutually enjoyable activities.As a Case Coordinator it is my responsibility to conduct assessments of both youth mentor and youth mentee. This ultimately allows us to match mentors and mentees, based on a personalized algorithm. Further to this role it is my responsibility to provide ongoing support to our Youth Mentors in their mentoring roles.As the Partnership coordinator it is my responsibility to outreach to the community, to better inform potential youth of our services. At the same time it is my responsibility to develop new partnerships with existing services in order to provide joint programming and to better service our youth. Show less
